  Concepts
(sketches, photocopies, photographs, ideas, etc.)

Our art staff is more than happy to develop artwork from a sketch, photocopy, photograph, or just an idea. They have experience with a variety of media and are very capable artists. Artwork submitted as a concept will need to go through the following Designing, Engineering and Separation Stages of development before it can be successfully screen printed.

Designing Stage - The artistic and creative process of developing a concept and creating a finished visual.

Engineering Stage
- Screen printing is a unique printing process that allows us to print on textiles. Because of this, your artwork will have to be engineered specifically with the screen printing process in mind. This stage requires a technical knowledge of the screen printing process.

Separation Stage
- Physically outputting art for separate screens for each actual color in the artwork.

  Digital Files

Submitting digital files can save you money by minimizing or eliminating the Designing Stage of development. Artwork submitted as a digital file will still need to go through the Engineering and Separation Stages before it can be successfully screen printed.

Guidelines for submitting Digital Files:

File Format (Applications)
• Adobe Illustrator 10 or earlier. (Save as an .ai, .pdf or eps file.)
• Photoshop 6 or earlier. (Submit tiffs at actual size and 300dpi. No jpegs or gifs.) Color separated in Spot On Process. Photoshop files need to be in spot color, not cmyk or rgb format. Process printing (cmyk or rgb) works great for color printing on paper, but is not cost effective in most cases for screen printing, due to the tight registration required.

Special instructions: Convert all fonts to outlines or paths. Include all linked images such as tiffs, jpegs, and bmps. Include a hardcopy of each separation with the color labeled clearly. Mac and PC formats accepted.

One Color Art: can be submitted as bmp, psd, pdf, tif, gif, or jpg formats as long as it is at least 200 dpi and is the actual size.

Media
• Zip 100MB disks (Mac or PC formatted)
• CD-ROM
• 3.5“ diskettes (Mac or PC formatted)

Camera Ready Film positives can be made directly from your camera ready separations thus limiting your art charges to the time needed for the Separation Stage. Our artists will scan your camera ready artwork and output the final film positives.
